Your Frequently Ask Questions

What is a Peptide?

A peptide is a chain of amino acids, just like a protein, but shorter. It is of natural origin, not synthetic, and derives its potency from naturally occurring amino acids.

Aren’t Peptides too large to penetrate the skin?

Peptides come in various sizes, and larger peptides do indeed have a harder time penetrating the skin than smaller ones. The peptides in Lumixderm are small enough to penetrate the skin passively. This penetration is further facilitated by the enhancing agents in the formula.

How does it compare to plant-based brightening agents?

Most plant-based skin-lightening agents must be used at high concentrations to achieve results comparable to those found in Lumixderm. As a result, these agents can cause significant irritation, leading to redness and increased sensitivity to the sun. The peptide in Lumixderm has been shown to be non-irritating, non-allergenic, and does not increase sensitivity to UV rays, while remaining effective at low concentrations (0.01%).

What is the average time it takes for patients to notice a significant clinical improvement?

Clinical data indicate that it takes an average of 6 to 8 weeks for patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I or II to see a visible improvement in their dark spots. For patients with Fitzpatrick skin types III or higher, visible results generally appear between 16 and 24 weeks when Lumixderm cream is use as a monotherapy. However, it is important to note that patient satisfaction is influenced by multiple factors and may vary depending on the initial degree of hyperpigmentation, skin type, genetic factors, individual metabolism, and age.

Can Lumixderm be used in combination with other treatments such as Retinoids or Salicylic Acid?

To date, we have no clinical data suggesting that Lumixderm cannot be used in combination with other active ingredients. We encourage our physician clients to share their case studies and experiences on this topic with us.
